Want to put some pizzazz in your repertoire? Jazz harpist Park Stickney will be visiting us Nov 10, 2007 for a jazz harp workshop. Then, in the evening, Park will provide a concert open to all audiences. Please join us for one or both events!

Come and join your fellow harpists from the D.C. AHS chapter and the WAFHS at the first annual Festival of Harps concert. There will be a day-of-concert rehearsal, food, and two fantastic ensemble performances. Anyone who plays harp is invited to participate, and this would be a great opportunity for teachers and their students to perform together. Participants will need to be on site from approximately 3:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on December 30, 2007.
Teachers and Advanced harpists perform the following selection of ensemble numbers (approx 20 minutes):
Away in a Manger (flute, 2 harps, cello), arr. Ken Gist $7.50
Three European Carols, arr. Ken Gist $9.50
Christmas Canon, arr. Marchildon/ Tick Toc Duo $12.00
All participants (any level of playing) will accompany a sign-a-long using the Sylvia Woods Christmas book (50 Carols for Harp $18.00) (approx 20 minutes):

The Schedule:
3:30 p.m. – Deliver/tune harps at the performance area
4:30 p.m. – Rehearse one time through the program
5:30-6:30 p.m. – Optional early dinner/potluck at the location
7:00 p.m. – First Performance
8:00 p.m. – Second Performance (repeat of the first performance)
8:45 p.m. – Clean up, pack up, and head home.

DC Youth Harp Ensemble Festival
A Youth Harp Ensemble Festival for youth up to the age of 17 is to be held January 2008, under the direction of Sharon Strange.
